FlatPress Updated to 0.804.1 (svn 189)
![]()
On September 25, 2008, FlatPress released a cumulative bug fix package. This package contains 18 modules updated since version 0.804 (svn 146) was released on May 07, 2008. The latest patch was for a XSS security issue which motivated the need for a new release. All new installations of FlatPress should use this new package.
For sites running FlatPress v.803 or a newer version, only the modified modules need to be replaced. This post provides instructions for replacing these files on your site by uploading them. For releases older than 0.803, you should perform a complete install. See this post on how to update your site to FlatPress 0.804.1.

Making FlatPress Secure
![]()
After setting up your FlatPress blog it recommended that you delete “setup.php” and the “setup/” directory on your site. These files are used to setup your blog as well at create your login id. Deleting them will not affect your blog at all. If you ever need them again to redo your setup, you can upload them to your site.
This change will not guarantee the security of your blog site but it will help. To protect your blogs content, it is best to backup it whenever you make changes to it or when new entries/comments are posted. On this blog, I have a post providing step-by-step procedures for backing up to your blog.
